Ange Noir Cafe | Our Story

The Soul Behind the Door

Ange Noir Cafe presents itself as a woman-owned French coffee shop and bar in Bushwick with a strong European café vibe. It is located near the Morgan L stop and positions the place around coffee, brunch, cocktails, and atmosphere rather than just grab-and-go café service.

Meet Vanessa

Meet Vanessa, the owner of Ange Noir Cafe 🇫🇷🥐☕️ Born in Nice, a slice of heaven in the south of France, Vanessa started her career as an assistant secretary. Yearning to have her own business, she opened a coffee shop in 2005 in the center of Nice called "L'Endroit," meaning "The Spot." In 2010, after her first visit to New York City, she fell in love with Brooklyn, left everything in France, and opened what's now a slice of heaven in Brooklyn: Ange Noir in 2012, and Hell Phone in 2014.

Built around mood as much as coffee, the day here moves with its own rhythm. Ange Noir Cafe starts with espresso, lavender lattes, pastries, and crepes. There are fresh juices and creamy smoothies for a brighter pause, along with all day breakfast favorites that carry the morning well past its usual hour.

Later, the room shifts into cocktails, pool, red light, and the private Telephone Room just beyond the glow.
